Our Mission

Asian In Portugal was founded to bridge the information gap that many Asian immigrants face when moving to Portugal. Navigating a new country's bureaucracy, healthcare system, housing market, and employment landscape is challenging — especially when information is scattered across Portuguese-only websites or buried in government portals.

Our mission is to provide clear, accurate, and up-to-date guides and news in English, making it easier for Asian newcomers to understand their rights, complete essential procedures, and build successful lives in Portugal.

What We Do

  • Step-by-step guides: Practical, actionable guides covering everything from getting your NIF to applying for citizenship. Each guide is researched from official sources and verified against current regulations.
  • Immigration news: We monitor Portuguese media and government announcements to bring you the latest policy changes, AIMA updates, and news that affects immigrants.
  • Official resources: Curated links to government portals, embassies, and support services — so you always know where to go for official information.
  • Community support: Our Facebook community connects thousands of Asian immigrants in Portugal for mutual support, advice, and shared experiences.

Our Editorial Standards

We take accuracy seriously. Every piece of content on this site follows these standards:

  • Source verification: All factual claims are verified against official Portuguese government sources (AIMA, Portal das Financas, ePortugal, SEF archives).
  • Regular updates: Guides are reviewed and updated whenever regulations change. Each guide shows its last update date.
  • Original content: Our news articles are original summaries, not copied from other publications. We cite our sources and link to the original reporting.
  • Corrections policy: If we publish incorrect information, we correct it promptly and note the correction in the article.
  • No legal advice: We provide informational guides, not legal advice. For complex immigration cases, we recommend consulting a licensed lawyer (advogado).

Our Community

The Asian In Portugal Facebook community is one of the largest groups for Asian immigrants in Portugal, with members from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Philippines, and many other Asian countries. Our community members share experiences, ask questions, and support each other through the challenges of living abroad.
